Words, we can’t escape them, whether it be on adverts, meme pages, inside books, on sculptures, paintings, text posts or crisp packets, they’re everywhere. And what is poetry if not an exploration of words? In this workshop Issey Kang aims to investigate the relationship between art, the internet and poems. Looking at concrete poetry and calligrams she has devised three drawing exercises to help blur the lines between what it means to make art, write poetry and create content online.

Bio: Issey Kang is an Artist currently in her second year of ACME and UAL’s Associate Studio Programme. Her work consists of drawing, sculpture and video with a strong focus on materiality. She works with children’s craft materials and everyday objects with a lens on ornamentalism, the cataloguing of lost media, all things female and the internet. She works towards encapsulating what the world feels like today and how we would represent ‘Human’ in a post apocalyptic setting.
Issey also curates and runs the series of Evening Workshops at Eye To Pencil alongside Luci Eyers.
