MATTER, MEMORY, & TECHNICAL OBJECTS
With Flora Scott
Tues, 25 June, 6.30-8.30pm
Location: Studio, 26 Exmouth Market, EC1 4QE
How can a technical object conjure the past? During the workshop, participants are invited to consider drawing as a process of mapping and recollection. Using memorable objects - brought by participants - we will be creating maps of our lives, inspired by the Hereford Mappa Mundi. Flora also invites us to design an instrument, with the ability to conjure up distant pasts and lost memories, considering ideas presented by Gilbert Simondon and Henri Bergson. We will learn how to use drawing as an apparatus which allows us to think about all things mystical and phenomenological.
Materials are included.
