Join Molly Martin for an extended special edition sketchbook workshop at Eye to Pencil. 

Day 1. Drawing from The National Gallery 
In this one off x2 day workshop you will have the chance to experience the joy of drawing in a gallery within a group - transcribing from the numerous works of art that The National Gallery has to offer, from the gilded narratives of the early Renaissance to the expressionist mark making of the french impressionists. 

Drawing from her own extensive experience, Molly will be on hand to offer advice and expertise throughout this all day workshop - ensuring that you gain a sense of freedom and satisfaction when working from paintings into your sketchbooks and helping you build confidence and enjoyment in your drawing. 

Day 2 : Drawing in the studio
The second day will be spent at the Eye to Pencil studio where we will work directly from our National Gallery sketchbook drawings into playful collages, monoprints and charcoal drawings. Using our sketchbooks as useful tools to expand our practice, Molly will introduce exciting and helpful techniques drawn from her own creative process, in order to help find freedom, tackle concept and composition and ultimately develop useful ways of working from our transcriptions. The final stage of this process is to unify and rework ideas into more finalised works. 

These two days will be a rare opportunity to learn from this experienced artist by watching her process and benefitting from the discussion and generous feedback she gives.

Bio:
Molly Martin is an artist and illustrator. She works constantly in sketchbooks in which she draws from the everyday as well as from Gallery paintings. She has a delicate sense of line and colour.  Her acclaimed book The Art of Repair was published in 2021.
